About Mason Pearson
Mason Pearson is well known among women all around the world for making excellent quality hairbrushes. However, it may come as a surprise to learn that the man behind these revolutionary products was not a chic stylist from Los Angeles or Paris but actually an engineer and inventor from Yorkshire in Northern England. Mason Pearson created his first masterpiece in the 1860s when he travelled to London and got a job at the British Steam Brush Works, making small, ordinary brushes by hand. It wasn’t long before Mason Pearson’s flair for invention let him to create an automatic brush-boring machine, for which he won a silver medal at the International Inventions Exhibition. He also invented the rubber-cushion hairbrush, which was so far ahead of its time that it is still favored by many women today.

Sadly, Mason Pearson’s brushes didn’t receive widespread recognition until after his death. It is thanks to his widow that they are available today as her continuing faith in the brushes led her to take on the business and promote them herself. One of the best things about Mason Pearson brushes it there are a large number to choose from as they are created especially to be used with particular hair types and lengths. Brushes made using pure boar bristles are intended for fine and normal hair, nylon bristles are for course or curly hair, while mixed bristles are for medium and wavy hair. Perhaps the most popular brush is the Detangler, which features nylon bristles and is designed to remove the knots and tangles from your hair after washing it.
